Knights, Witches, and Murder is the first book my R.M. Schultz that I've read and it certainly won't be the last. I'm going to be honest and admit that I was grabbed by the "witches" in the title. I'm a sucker for witches, dragons and fae in the books I read.
I love fantasy and I read a lot of it, but I don't read much mystery. This was a perfect blend of fantasy and mystery that kept me guessing the whole way through.
Calec and Eristin are an unlikely pairing, considering he is the son of a witch and the Kingdom's stance on witches as a whole.
As the story follows Calec trying to find the inciter of the winter plague, I was unable to correctly decide who the culprit was right up to them being revealed. This was refreshing, I enjoyed all the guessing as it kept me interested in the story.
