Low-angst, romantic and sexy, City Boy was super enjoyable. You don't have to like hockey to appreciate this story about a veteran hockey player on the verge of retirement and a young farmer who has been displaced from the only happy home he's ever known. Bryce is adorable, generous and lovely, even if he's maintained an almost deliberate ignorance about his sexuality. When he meets Dakota, he's no longer able to lie to himself and the two of them embark on a relationship that is almost immediately threatened when Dakota finds out that Bryce has inherited the house and farm where Dakota currently lives. Thankfully, this book is saved from too much melodrama when the two men decide to try and talk it out and work through this curveball (communication is key, people!!).
A bit of family drama ensues when Bryce has to face coming out not only to the family he has financially supported for years (and who he believes may have some stakes in his plans for retirement) but also to the league and the fans who have supported him. But have no fear, there is a lovely HEA which makes it all worthwhile.
Anyway, if you're looking for something romantic to read, this would be an excellent choice.
