When I finished Play by Kylie Scott, I had an inkling that with Deep, Ben Nicholson would dethrone Mal as the top dog in the series. That didn't exactly happen because I can't choose one above the other. It just can't be done - does that make me a groupie? So, I finally realized that with the Stag Dive series, it's hard to pick a favorite band-member and love interest, but there’s something in the older guy and younger off-limits girl story line that always seem to call to me, and the premise of Ben and Lizzy Rollins connection and predicament is all the more enticing. With the series conclusion, Ben finally has his day to be front and center in the story line and show off his charming personality and loyal nature. While I love Ben, Lizzy really stole the show for me. She plays off everyone in this little crowd of rock gods +ones ( or +twos) . So, with Lizzy Rollins firmly in his orbit, Ben’s life gets really interesting.
Due to some weird band rule, cuddling up to Lizzy is a no-no. And like the other couples, they can’t help what they feel and can’t hide it. Deep is all about Ben and Lizzy quashing their feelings for each other. Lizzy Rollins is the voice in the story and what a voice it is. Lizzy is smart, snarky, and brave. She tells it how it is and is not afraid to let Ben have it when he deserves it. Getting the story through Lizzy’s eyes made it all the more entertaining because the.girl.is.funny. Her attitude really stole the show and through Lizzy’s voice, Kylie Scotts' writing shines. The dialogue is absolutely stellar. It’s natural and makes this story one of those reads that you can’t stay away from - its an effortless read that goes by all too quickly. Being a romance, we share moments that are fun, sexy, filled with jealousy and heartbreak. These moments are so clearly captured making this is another example is where Kylie's writing is simply outstanding.
4 stars and recommendation! The Stage Dive series is certainly one of my favorites in the Rock Star erotic romance genre. All in all the series merits a 5 star rating and my recommendation.
