3.5. I enjoyed this book a lot and did have a fun time. I was also invested in the story and was always excited to pick it up. I was just not emotionally invested if that makes sense. The Main character was pretty tolerable for a ya mc. The problems for me in this book were we only knew about mal and Alina, so I didn’t care about anyone else. Also Alina was kinda boring. She had some cool things about her but she never really used them. It seemed like the author thought the coolest thing about her was her powers. The revelation was soooooooo obvious, (I say revelation not plot twist because if anything the “plot twist” was more of a plot okay). Everything felt meh but I still liked it and a recommend it because it was still a fun time and it got me out of my reading slump. I am not continuing with the series because I’m not really intrigued and I haven’t heard enough good things. Although I am picking up six of crows which I’m excited for!!
