The Wives
by Simone Gorrindo
medium-paced
As a military spouse I related to this authors story but also was so frustrated by her outlook on both life and military life. I didn’t really dislike her story because it make me reflect and remember, however it did take a lot to look past her opinions. At times I feel as if she felt she was being kind and open hearted but many times politics were inserted in places where they had no place: such as a going away party.
I would love to hear what the wives written about in this book would have to say. I feel a part of me was being harshly judged in this book. I wonder if they feel the same way. Thinking of “the wives” in my life, after everything we have shared I cannot imagine depicting them in a tone I felt I was reading. Was that lost in translation? Are my views colored by the season of life I am in? Or do they feel like I do?
