Real score: 3.85. Look, I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would. I’m going to be super controversial here: I’m not a great fan of Romantasy. I said it. I feel better already. I get weary of flawed alphas with big assets who win over flawed, self-depreciating but secretly gorgeous, stoic gals. I know. Call me cynical. There seemed to be a big chunk of world building missing from this. Maybe I’m lacking in my mythology knowledge. I think I would have enjoyed more insight into why everything was the way it was without the need to go searching for it. But overall, this wasn’t too bad and I’ll likely continue the series, although I’m not sure we can like the West Wind from here - and in that, maybe, lies the intrigue.
