Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

4.0

i absolutely love reading bridgerton books because i fly through them so fast, the last time i listened to an audiobook so fast was literally the duke and i!! the book starts with penelope talking about how she was so inlove with colin and has been in love with him for so long, he makes the comment about how he would never date penelope in the house with his brothers, she overheard, and dan away, in the book it wasn’t as big of a deal as in the show, which i don’t know how to fully feel about. then later he gets back from traveling and they keep running into each other, after she asks colin to kiss her and everything changes.

he finds out that she is lady whistledown, he’s yelling at her in the carriage, and then the infamous carriage scene happens. something that happens in the book that i don’t think will happen in the show is how colin was jealous of the fact that penelope had a life’s work and that he didn’t and honestly i just thought that was so raw and so real, like yeah it’s not the best emotion to have with your wife, but i can understand his pov completely.

i also understand penelope completely when she thought that colin wasn’t proud of her, which couldn’t have been further from the truth, he was just sad about his own life. this book also set up perfectly for eloise’s book so i don’t know how it’s going to go for the show.

also the lady whistledown drama was pretty mild, cressida tried to blackmail penelope and colin handled it by telling everyone that he lived penelope and his wife was lady whistledown. such a good book!
