The War That Saved My Life is such a fantastic book that I couldn’t keep myself from getting my hands on and reading the sequel straight away. The War I Finally Won didn’t have all the magic of its predecessor, but it came pretty dang close. I thoroughly enjoyed this continuation to Ada’s story.
One of my favorite things about this book is the way Ada’s anxiety is portrayed. She has serious abandonment issues (because her mom is the WORST) and I thought they were portrayed in a very realistic way. Also—can we just say how goals Susan is as a human being? She took these kids in when they needed a positive, adult relationship and she totally stepped up to the plate.
Susan is my fav.
