Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking
by Samin Nosrat
@ciaosamin’s brilliance is on every page of this book. Equal parts memoir, reference book, and cook book, “SFAH” is an exemplary masterclass in what cooking IS. It is not fancy kitchen gadgets and a diverse array of spices. Nor is it an IG-perfect kitchen and simply following recipes and hoping for the best.
But more importantly, she outlines the how’s and why’s of GOOD cooking. I have never felt more equipped, inspired, or free in the kitchen.
This information is delivered in a digestible format, complete with reference charts and info graphics to convey important notes.
Ultimately, this book has opened my eyes to the infinite possibilities of food and broken that infinity down into bite-sized, learnable chunks. It’s also shown me how to cook like my mother and grandmother - by TASTE! In the age of food delivery and meal subscriptions, all of this was new for me and life-changing at that.
