i do love this book a lot. i think it’s a very realistic depiction of the grief and trauma that comes after the suicide of a loved one. because of that, it was incredibly difficult to read. i also thought that the ending didn’t quite match the pacing of the beginning. i wish that a little bit more time had been given to the phase of caitlyn’s healing where the allows other people in and lets herself be vulnerable. since the ending feels rushed, it doesn’t come across as hopeful as i think it was intended to be.
Graphic: Death, Grief, Mental illness, Self harm, and Suicide
as good at this book is, i highly recommend you avoid it if you have a history of depression, self harm, suicidality, or anything similar. this book brought up a lot of things that i thought i’d gotten past.
