I got this book during one of the Stuff Your Kindle Days, I was intrigued with the cover and was nervous with the trigger warnings and thought it was going to rip my heart out. I ended up enjoying this more than I thought I would, and I am begging for this to become an interconnected series especially after that cliffhanger.

This book has two points of view. The first is Logan Sloan and her 18th birthday was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, but it quickly turned into a day she will never forget. She ran away from everything she knew and never looked back. Since then, she has never let anyone close enough in case her demons hiding in the shadows decided to make a move, until she met him. He came into her life as if he were a shining light in her world full of darkness. She knew the moment she looked into his midnight blue eyes that he was the one she had been looking for to help her out of the shadows. She tried to push him away, but they were inevitable. She just had to accept that fate would allow her to feel his love. But unfortunately for her fate isn’t always on her side. Eight years after that tragic day, everything she had been running from finally caught up to her. The second point of view is Grayson Hayes and when he met her, he saw something familiar. They both harboured secrets that turned into demons. She feared what lurked in the shadows and he harboured the loss of the ones he pushed into them. Without realizing it, she helped him out a place that was so dark he never thought he’d see the light again. He never thought he would find someone that would accept him and the weight of the ones he lost. Until one day the demons surfaced and threatened to take it all away. He made a promise to her that he would keep her safe, and he will stop at nothing to keep that promise.

I loved this book and this storyline. I was rooting for Grayson so hard. But he is the best fictional man I’ve read about in a long time. He was open, honest, communicate, grovelled when he made a small mistake, gave Logan as much time as she needed to open to him, made her feel loved, protected her and listened to her. I love him. I could write a ten-page essay on why I love Grayson so much. Logan was so strong and brave, and I loved her character development and how was she knew she could trust Grayson, she didn’t want to be afraid to let him in and to love loudly. I wanted to hug the hell out Logan. I’m glad she got the closure, and she was the one who confronted Mike. I will forever love dual POV in romance books and I loved the thoughts of both Grayson and Logan during this book. I love Grayson’s family, and I want more from them and I hope this isn’t the last time we see them especially Noah, he is so funny and sweet and I wanted to know more from Wes.

The only thing that sort of put me off was the insta-love trope, I hate that trope. I understand why it was done because there was a lot of build up before anything happened and they started their relationship but for the first couple of chapters after they met, their thoughts were giving me the ick. Logan was all “I can’t stop thinking about that sexy, tattooed, man” and Grayson was like “I’m in love, she is mine, let’s go and get her.” Plus, I was waiting for Allie to show up or something and she made us wait until the epilogue to find her and then ended, which was obviously done so we would have to read the next book to see if Allie is okay.

I cannot wait to see the next book in the series and to see how Allie is doing after what happened during this book.
