It takes a lot for me to not finish a book, but unfortunately I had to give up on the last 20 pages or so. The character seemed distant, the writing felt forced, the story was nonexistent. She bought a huge house in Italy, had to hire people to fix it up, end of story. It seemed as if she was just watching the house transform under the hands of the workers instead of making any connections with it or the land, and as a result, it's difficult for the reader to have any connection with the story. One of the rare times that the movie was actually better than the book.
