i liked the first book but my lord i really loved this one, not sure if/how any of the others will be able to top it.

some key points:

1) the slowburn between Feyre and Rhysand was so so good, i was so torn between wanting to tear my hair out because i just wanted them to get together already and wanting it to carry on because the tension was just a whole other level (which then explains why the spicy parts were also so good).

2) the pain that both Feyre and Rhys hold in their hearts is so heartbreakingly, beautifully written - it felt like i could feel it all. i just want to give them both a hug.

3) the way SJM writes about wings... the intricate descriptions, the importance of them... it feels like she's talking about a whole individual character. when Cassian's wings get shredded at the end, i felt the pain so deeply in my heart, it was as if someone had actually died (sidenote: i hope they're okay and Cass can still fly, i'll be heartbroken otherwise).

4) i have NEVER hated a character as much as i do Tamlin. i'd heard that people disliked him and i was doubtful about how that could happen after the first book because i did actually like him. but GOD how wrong i was. its as if he did a complete 180°. i felt like Feyre... having fallen for how good and nice he was at first and not seeing how controlling and manipulative he was until it was too late. that man is absolute TRASH. the amount of satisfaction i got from Rhys punching him at the end was a lot... but i can't wait for them to actually take him down. Lucien is a little more complicated - i think i defended him a little too much whilst reading when, at the end of the day, he's pretty much an enabler. hopefully we can get some good character development and he can actually be a proper friend to Feyre.
