The Holy Thief by Ellis Peters

4.0

Winter will always put me in a Cadfael mood; this series is just grand for snuggling down in the midst of snowy weather. The televised adaptation of this story is something of a bastardization, but I enjoy both takes rather equally. Religious quandaries, miracles from saints, and a forbidden romance between a novice ill-suited for the cloister and a singer's slavegirl: Peters never disappoints with her layered webs of historical mystery and romance.
