Love on the Brain
by Ali Hazelwood
I usually prefer fantasy books over any other genre, especially pure romance books. Having said that, this was really good.
The romance was not the entire plot, the spice was good and the writing style, especially the metaphors and comparisons in Bee's inner monologue was very entertaining. The grumpyxsunshine trope was not subtle in the least and very predictable but that's what I was looking for when I started reading this book so I was cool with that.
If you're into fun, quirky, predictable, very trope heavy romances you're going to love this. If you've just finished a series you were emotionally invested in and need a rebound, I'd definitely recommend this as well.
That much for the general review. I want to address something very specific because I need to get it off my chest.
Levi Ward.
Levi Ward???
You know when they talk about book boyfriends and men written by women? Yea. They talk about him. This man just raised all the standards. I aspire to have the patience and dedication this man has, in all aspects of life.
~Here's a little spoiler warning~
We love a man who has the balls to admit that he needs therapy. We love a man that went to therapy, is aware of his flaws and continuously works on himself just to be a better person. Just because he realized for himself that the environment he grew up in was not the healthiest and that maybe it had an unhealthy effect on him.
He told her 'No, you're not right but I know arguing with you is useless. I'll just have to show you.' (in regards to her trust issues) and you're expecting me not to love him?!
He has a cat for god's sake.
Okay anyway, I'm done now. Happy reading folks :)
