The period of time Baime covers in this Biography, the first 4 months of Truman's presidency, is probably one of the most studied and documented periods of WWII. Baime uses this backdrop to make Truman seem like an amazing President and barely spends any time analyzing the President's political decisions. What we get are weak arguments about how Truman was an "ordinary" man that lived up to and exceeded the world's expectations of him and so the entire book falls flat.
