This story follows two school girls who are best friends as they get on with every day life - crushes, family drama, homework - three years after the beginning of an alien invasion. I love that this centred the experience of people so disconnected from the centre of the invasion, and it’s especially interesting reading it in the pandemic… an external, existential crisis that certainly has impacted everyone to varying degrees, but most of us aren’t on the front lines, and we’ve still got mundane stuff to worry about. It’s surreal and slice-of-life all in one.

I’m looking forward to reading more instalments… although, having read my fair share of Inio Asano, I don’t have faith that this won’t break the characters (and me) at some point. 💁🏻‍♀️
