“When you’re hurting, you’re like a porcupine. You’re all… rolled up. You want to be left on your own. So I tried to leave you on your own. I thought that was what you needed. But I think I was wrong. I think I should’ve been with you this whole time. Because you’re hurting still.”

What is wrong with me if festive romcoms and childhood magical fantasy films like Harry Potter cannot save my Christmas spirit then WHAT can??? I stare at my presents impassively and wade through my days like I carry some kind of unshakable sadness within. Even tried method acting through watching A Christmas Carol (1971) but no can do.

Nothing wrong with this novella about childhood best friends who have been in love forever but one is too afraid to open her heart again while the other offers his whole heart to her despite his fears though. A bonus that Will is an actor with a himbo energy. I blame my cynical mind that nitpicked at everything romantic as unrealistic. And since it's not a full-length novel, it doesn't have the level of emotional intimacy that I look for in romance, but it was a fun lighthearted read nonetheless!
