Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

2.0

The song is Billy by Lauv.

SpoilerBilly had dreams of a singer or a song writer
Nobody told him the world was mean
Billy grew up without a father and nobody thought
He could amount to anything
But I knew he would because he was the damn protagonist

Woah, oh, oh
Ayy, woah, well look who's laughing now
'Cause Billy's brought his band to the top from ground
But he wasn't the only one who worked hard for their team
He just exhausted my energy
And ayy, woah, well look who's laughing now
Yeah, he said "I don't care if you have doubts"
But he had no right to be so mean
He just exhausted my energy

Billy married Camila when he wanted to be free
He didn't think was someone right
Then Billy got down under pressure
He couldn't go to bed at night
'Cause he saw the world come crashin' down the way it does

Woah, oh, oh
Ayy, woah, well look who's laughing now
''Cause Billy's brought his band to the top from ground
But he wasn't the only one who worked hard for their team
He just exhausted my energy
And ayy, woah, well look who's laughing now
Yeah, he said "I don't care if you have doubts"
But he had no right to be so mean
He just exhausted my energy
Now Billy is free
It's Billy, oh, oh, oh
It's Billy, it's Billy, it's Billy
Oh, oh, alright, woo.

I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else’s muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
End of fucking story.

This book was my last TJR book. But if TJR kills Mick Riva in her next book then I would shamelessly take the previous sentence back. I hate him so much. And I have no idea why I'm talking about him. Just ignore this.

So let's start the review by saying that I hate Daisy Jones. And I know that everyone like her because she stood up for herself and was a strong woman and was comfortable with her body. But should I just ignore the fact that she thought she was superior than everyone? Or she thought that she would always get whatever in the world she wanted? Or her selfish nature? She got angry at Billy for rejecting her? Angry at a man who has a wife and 3 children? I don't know about others but this is what being spoilt is called in my dictionary. And ye I'm calling a grown up woman spoilt.

Like for example (don't ignore the word example)
I call myself a feminist but would you like me if I was homophobic?Or transphobic?Or racist? You wouldn't. Just because I support female rights doesn't mean I'm a good person or maybe you can say I'm not a likeable person. And no I'm not saying that Daisy was homophobic or racist. I'm just trying (and maybe failing) to explain my reasons for hating her.

History is what you did, not what you almost did, not what you thought about doing. And I was proud of what I did.

I don't hate Billy but I don't like him either. I liked how he sobered himself up not unlike a certain someone who's name rhymes with Pick. I really thought he was going to be a prick (a very unsuccessful attempt at a pun) and he was going to cheat on Camila again and again. But he controlled himself and gave up on his addictions for his family and I respect him for that.
The thing I hate about him is how he didn't care about everyone else's feelings and did whatever he felt like doing. If you want to lead something then you need to respect the team members too.

Another reason I hated this book was how unimportant the other characters felt like. The name of the book is "Daisy Jones and the Six" and I wanted everyone to get equal limelight but that didn't happen. All I read in this book was how Daisy was born to rich parents who didn't care about her and how lonely she was and how addicted to drugs she was. It was nice in the beginning but I got tired of that quickly.
Spoiler Karen freaking aborted her child which is a serious issue. Who cares right? Camila struggled so much to keep her family happy but who cares? And I seriously had to reread the first 2-3 chapters because I forgot who Pete was. Though I hated Eddie. He was annoying. And Graham had no personality at all. All he wanted was KAREN.

The best character in this book was Rod. I still wonder why and how he tolerated them. And no one cared about him which is disheartening. #JUSTICEFORROD
