So I didn't love this book. It was dense, it was information overload, the footnotes were essays. The first 100 pages were a mission to get through.
The book is heavy. Lots of descriptions, overuse of similes and metaphors (did I mention that they don't make sense?) until I had no idea what was going on. I read sentences and thought "Huh?!" It hurt trying to figure out what Kristoff was saying.
It started getting a bit better and more interesting after this. I started to really enjoy the different classes and learning that the initiates went through.
All I wanted was some action, maybe some nefarious plots and some murder and some backstabbing of both the literal and figurative variety. There was a smidge of that. It wasn't enough to save the book for me from it's other overwhelming issues I had with it.
Read at your own risk.
