Bill Hodges is a side character in this story. It's really about Pete and Morris and their shared love of an old writer. It almost feels like it would be better if it was a standalone but the Hodges-Brady subplot doesn't have enough legs to be interesting alone, it would still be the subplot in whatever other story it was in and I'd have the same complaint. Still despite this it's still enjoyable.
