Really loved this one it was cute and sweet. This book made up for all of the faults of the first book. The pacing improved tremendously to the point where I was worried I'd be left with a cliffhanger for a third book but it never felt rushed. I understand with fantasy that the world building takes time and tact but it was not handled well in the first book at all. And even with the many unknowns going into this book it was way more digestible and enjoyable.

Additionally Crier and Ayla acted like rational people in this book vs. in the first book they did things where it was like "not even the most irrational teenager in existence would do that" so yeah things just sort of fell into place which was good.

My only qualm is some of the lack of explanation of things like the alchemy and tourmaline and character development/backstory but I get that this is a gay romance/fantasy book so let it be lol
Also the fact that there were huge climaxes but everything still was wrapped up in such a nice little bow was like...
