Was She Pretty? by Leanne Shapton

4.0

While I could have done without the intro, I really enjoyed the "meat" of the story. Each page was a lovely snapshot of someone's ex, often related in some way to the ex before. Capturing the essence of what is interesting about a person, shedding light on the nature of a relationship in just a few short sentences is not easy, but Shapton does it with finesse. You not only get a feeling for the ex, but for the other person in the relationship, and also for the reactions of other people to the relationship. I borrowed this from the library, but will likely buy my own copy.
