This Wicked Fate by Kalynn Bayron

First off: If you haven't read the first book, This Poison Heart, go do that now.

I love it I love it I love it I love it

Honestly, this duology (I think it's just a duology) is so good. My reservations at the end of the first book I entirely forgot about and it just moved from book to book so smoothly and with purpose. I do think I stand by reading the first one then reading this one right after however - This book starts literally exactly where the first book ended.

The story of grief and generational trauma is a hell of a strong one here so be prepared for that.
Starting right after the events of the ending in book 1, Bri's mother is dead and being "held" underground for a month while Bri and everyone else has to find and bring together all the pieces of the Heart. This book details the events of this story and all the ups and downs that come with it.

Book 1 was a treasure hunt, and I'd say book 2 is more of a sprint to a finish line that was only just created. There's a lot more greek mythology (so certainly read up on that before this as there's a LOT of it and not everything is explained fully despite there being a lot of exposition overall) which I loved honestly, and not all of it is the "super popular" stories only!

I would love to see some kind of spinoff book containing more stories around Bri and Marie, I loved their relationship (aisde from the immortal x under-18 trope), they where adorable! And tbh I just want so much more from this world, I'd love to know more about the gods and more about the open threads that where at the end and the unanswered questions.
