The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander

Another Prydain book down! A charming little story, childlike but adventurous. Like book one its a journey story with a sinister overlord in the background. The main characters of book 1 play a role once more though only Taran has much of any development or attention. However, in this book we see a firm arch of maturity in the character as well as the stark consequences of pride and vanity. It contains a number of compelling scenes and silly antics, an all around excellent read for young adults interested in high fantasy.
