I wanted so badly to enjoy this, but I just wasn’t hooked. I found the pace slow, and the multiple POVs didn’t help matters. I also felt like there wasn’t enough explanation early enough; I could’ve done with more info sooner, rather than it being held back for some no doubt dramatic reveal later.

It’s a shame, because I loved the setting and I was really excited about a South Asian-inspired fantasy novel.
