Celaena is on her way to the red desert to meet the Mute master is assassins with whom she will train for a month with as further punishment for her betrayal of Arobynn, he also gave her a beating. Calaena is in the white pig until her ship comes in and she can continue her journey. She doesn’t know what happened to Sam but she can’t help but think of starting her own group of assassins and being able to bring him with her. After last call she goes to her room but she wants some trouble so she goes downstairs and sees 4 mercenaries surrounding Yrene, she kills 3 of 4 and the fourth one runs away. We also got some of yrenes pov throughout this. She never meant to get stuck at the white pig. She was on her way to antica to go to healer school when she stopped here to save money and has been unsuccessful. Her mother was a healer in Fenharrow and 8 years ago they found her and killed her but Yrene was able to get away because she was so young but it was still her dream to be a healer like her mother had been. She cleans up the stranger in the hood but the girl took her hood off and exposes her blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. And she’s younger than she expected. She tells the girl of her wishes to be a healer and the girl tells her no matter what she does she needs to learn to defend herself. The school she wants to go to is the Torre Cesme. Caleana teaches Yrene some maneuvers in the alley and when men come she tells Yrene to go back inside but Yrene can’t help but peek out and a man had snuck into the inn and is holding a knife to her throat. He tells Caleana to drop her weapons of he’ll slit yrenes throat but the girl gives Yrene a look to fight back so she does. She gets the man off of her and Calaena finishes him off. She also took some gold coins from them. After Yrene cleans herself up she finds the coins in a note saying “for wherever you need to go and then some. The world needs more healers. So she’s cleaned up and she takes the money and leaves the white pig inn forever. Calaena is on her way to the desert to practice with the silent assassins because she knows she has to see this route through. And as she drifts off to sleep on the ship she hopes that maybe someday Yrene towers will return back to this continent and heal it a little bit. This novella introduces us to Yrene the healer and her interaction with Celaena as Celaena is on her way to the desert to train with the silent assassins. So we get to see a little more of Celaenas personality in this novella.
