As an otherwise 'gifted' kid who struggled with reading & felt it was a chore, I remember I did not put this book down. I loved the characters, the riddles, the twists. I remember being so incredibly moved by this book. As an adult, I now know I missed most of the deeper social commentary of the book at the time. I hope to re-head & read the sequel.
