The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins

2.0

2.5 stars - Everyone is despicable and entitled, and the twists are trying too hard.
Spoiler Once it was revealed early on that Jules had secrets, it was pretty obvious that she would turn out to be a Darnell, greedy to gain what she missed growing up on and willing to manipulate and kill for it (though her grandmother and great-grandmother were badass in their brief appearances). Similarly, it was unsurprising once Ruby admitted she killed her first husband that she did away with the rest. Therefore, I felt no shock when nearly everyone else in the family (Ben, Cam, Father McTavish) turned out to be murderers as well. I did pity Nelle - her parents were uncaring and negligent, her fake sister was a giant bitch to her, and she was cut out of the majority of the fortune - honestly I was shocked she didn't murder anyone. And massive eyeroll to the "happy ending" where Jules and Cam take the money and have a murder baby, who I can only hope one day kills them both.
