By now, we all know that I am a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers story. With Apollo and Ridge, we have the added bonus of friends-to-enemies-to-lovers! And honestly, the tension kind of makes me giddy.

To be fair, some of that tension is the result of Apollo making assumptions that Ridge has never corrected, which is not my favourite thing. But now they have nothing but time to clear the air.

I've never encountered as stubborn a character as Apollo. He's a giant curmudgeon of a man, who really only manages to get in his own way. And it's a good thing Ridge knows him as well as he does, or they'd never manage a civil conversation together.

Even as they clear the air, Apollo is conflicted. There are a lot of mitigating factors telling him that developing a relationship with Ridge is a bad idea. But the two are drawn together more and more the longer they spend time together. Alone. In the woods. With very little to do once their work is done for the day.

While their romance was years - and many barriers - in the making, they managed to find their way back to each other.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed the Four Bears Construction series, and learning that there's a spin-off makes me very happy! I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of shenanigans the crew at Big Bull Mechanics get up to.
