Thirst
by Marina Yuszczuk
I was looking for a new read that’d satisfy my literary horror or gothic need, and was lured in by the “Argentinian feminist gothic” description. I liked how the two characters had two distinct voices, because part one is the vampire and part two is the human. However, it was underwhelming.. especially part two. On the back of the book, the description makes it seem like the characters meet halfway through the book, and thus a lot of pages dedicated to them and what’s about to come. They only meet somewhere in the last 30-20 pages or so… and nothing really happens. The human woman suddenly (literally the last page) decides to abandon her son, to be turned into a vampire and live with her in a mausoleum. Ok… disappointing read.
