Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers
2.0

I was so excited to sit down and finally read this book! To say I was disappointed, would be a huge understatement. The Mary Poppins in the book is an awful person. I read this aloud to my 4 and 7 year old and had to skip so many parts because I was horrified at the way Mary was speaking to the children. At one point Mary says to Michael, "the very sight of him was more than any self-respecting person could be expected to stand." Who speaks to someone like that?

Skip the book. Watch the movie.
