Art Matters: Because Your Imagination Can Change the World
by Neil Gaiman
I wish I could give this book an unlimited amount of stars on here. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author, but his love and support of the arts and libraries solidifies that standing. As a librarian, I appreciate that there are authors out there that freely speak openly and positively about libraries and their importance in the world. This is a compilation of speeches that Gaiman has given over the years, and his words are vitally important, especially in the world we live in today when art, creativity, and imagination are chastised and ridiculed as weakness. Our modern world was founded upon creativity and imagination, and our past is strongly written with it as well. I fully believe that our future depends upon those that are willing to let their voices be heard through the written word, art, etc. I believe that we as humans should always remember that art matters and that we should all make good art!
