Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

3.0

I simply just don't think this series is for me. With the series probably averaging at roughly 3.5 stars, I've found it very underwhelming, and I'm kinda sad that this isn't the end yet and I still have another 980 paged book to go. Now I know people will just tell me not to bother but I'm interested enough to know how it ends and plus, I've come this far and read the first 7 or 8 sooo, I kinda have to read Kingdom of Ash, let's be honest.

Empire of Storms to me is overhyped. I don't get it. I don't get how people read this and found it so mesmerising and captivating and whatever else, because I found it slow and boring. Now, I've never read high fantasy before, so this could be a me problem with not liking this genre, it could be me just struggling with long books, or it could be me just not vibing with this universe.
Of course I fell in love with the world of ACOTAR, but that's a romantasy and gave off such different vibes so it's not a fair comparison.
I generally have a history of struggling with long ass books lol so maybe it's me struggling to focus and pay attention to what was happening so I lost interest.

Anyway, yeah Aelin is cool, Rowan is fine, Manon is a bit more interesting, whatever, I don't really remember what happened to be honest. I rather enjoyed the plot of Tower of Dawn surprisingly with Chaol and Yrene and think I actually might have enjoyed it a bit more, which is odd considering more of the drama happens in EoS, but anyway.

I just wrote this sort of review to be like yeah this series is boring.
