Beautiful Bastard
by Christina Lauren
2.5-3 Stars
This was almost a 2-starrer, but the last 30% or so really redeemed it for me. It’s chock full of sex scenes and predictable tropes (I mean, it is fan fiction, I believe), but it has elements unique and compelling enough to see it through. At least, it did for me.
I really liked the heroine—the hero was a bit one dimensional for me—and her voice and actions. The office setting was fun, and the dynamic between the leads was a little addicting, though repetitive.
I’d read a follow-up featuring these two, but probably not the rest of this series. I’m afraid it’ll be too trite. I do want to read book one in CL’s other contemporary romance series. Fingers crossed it’s good.
