What a delightful debut novel!

This book had me laughing out loud. I loved the strong family bonds, Margot's initial reactions to Alaska were hilarious, and the cast of people at the lodge were absolutely delightful.

Margot really got a bit Damsel in Distress during the excursions, especially the camping trip. That kind of rubbed me the wrong way - someone who so diligently researches for books can't be bothered to ask what the items for a Sub-Zero campout are for?

I also wasn't super thrilled about the character arcs. I've been the caretaker, many times over, so I did relate heavily to Margot and Forrest's arcs. But the part where their arcs involve learning chronically ill people are capable of independence strikes me as... infantilizing. It may be a necessary message for a tragically large number of people, but it still rubbed me the wrong way.

Overall, though, the book was a delight. I can't wait for the next one!
