I almost DNF’d. But I didn’t. Maybe someone out there in my book circle can help me fill in some blanks. While I am not the biggest fan of this book, I would still read the second book.
I really liked the concept of this book. Wish magic mixed with Fae seemed interesting, but it was like it wanted to be a dark romantasy, but all I got was dark fantasy with a hint of a sexual relationship. The book itself was unique and maybe my critiques are because I’m more into the romance of romantasy than the fantasy of romantasy. I can see why some readers love this. It’s unique. It has a plot. It has a strong FMC and a DESPICABLE set of villains. But after reading Wish, I’m left with a lot of emptiness and not in a good way.
Confusions and Questions:
- Why did Mora trust Zadriel? She had been raped, cursed, abused, and tortured, but one trauma bond made her feel like she could trust him.
- They were barely friends before Mora stuck her hand in Zadriel’s pants. After her experience with Dother, I would think she’d be more apprehensive to sexual contact especially with a man she didn’t trust. I missed the part where she managed to process all of the emotional trauma beforehand - or maybe I didn’t and it wasn’t there.
- Zadriel was so dry. He was an MMC, but basically no more relevant and interesting than a side character. I felt more (while it was hatred) for the villains than I did for Zadriel. I wanted a book boyfriend to dream about and did not get one. He seemed weak.
- Why could Mora not pick up her flask the whole time and hide it? Why was she a psychopath until she met Zadriel?
I have more questions, but you get the gist.
