The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

5.0

I never would have picked this up based on the description if it wasn't a book club selection, but I loved it. A unique girl, separated from her parents and kept by a wealthy eccentric as part of his collection of rare artifacts, survives her strict existence through constant reading. One day, while exploring, she finds a book titled The Ten Thousand Doors that opens her world and makes her see what she is truly capable of, but also puts her in immense danger. This book is labeled as YA, but the author herself states that it isn't. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to give it to a teenager. I don't read much fantasy, but this felt very accessible. The audiobook was fantastic.
