kathryn moon is my QUEEN of sweet, horny, dirty-talking cinnamon-roll-but-will-kill-her-enemies monster boyfriends.
i love this series (check my reviews for book one here and book two here, if you’re curious!), and i’m genuinely sad to say goodbye to these characters. shocking, because i started these books as a quick and dirty why choose monster romance.
and while it ABSOLUTELY is a reading-for-the-spice kind of series, it’s got plenty of heartfelt moments, and more plot than you’d expect in the context of a dick-slinging why choose sexfest.
while sanctuary with kings has a lot more plot than even the first two, the tradeoff was the spice. so if you read rooksgrave and thought there were just too many peens, this one will probably speak to you. i was a little disappointed in the sheer number of fade-to-blacks (there are never too many smut chapters, kathryn! please! MORE!), but it was still fun and still quite spicy, with a few elements of arthurian lore to keep the story interesting.
if you’d rather be surprised by the kinds of monsters that woo our FMC in this one, go ahead and scroll away now, but if you’re looking to be enticed: we get a dragon with TWO c*cks, a reluctant, possessive minotaur, a naughty, knotty werewolf, and a sweet, doting gryphon.
i think these MMCs are my favorites out of all of the monster boyfriends kathryn’s written — but if you feel particularly attached to the characters from rooksgrave and fiends, you’ll definitely enjoy the last few chapters in this one.
