if you didn’t like the original for it’s on-the-nose portrayal of frothy, society girls, you won’t like this version either. i, however, did.
it is a great take on a modern retelling and stuck to the heart of the original. this Emma is vapid because she plays into societal stereotypes, Nadine is considered a project because like Harriet, she’s out of her depth. i appreciated the slight differences in making this more contemporary, which contemporary is definitely an apt description of this.
it has everything you’d want from a contemporary rom-com while still maintaining most of the plot, characters, and themes from the original.
