The Children of Men
by P.D. James
Very interesting dystopian world in this one. I liked thinking about the question of whether hope lies strongly on the backs of future generations, i.e. with no future generations expected, humanity loses all hope and desire. Especially desire. The descriptions of people's really really hum drum lives were excellent.
The only thing I didn't get were the groups of crazed last generation people - I never did understand why they had become that way, and why that generation was somehow a little genetically different, in a twisted way. But other than that, great book. I am looking forward to seeing the movie.
