A court intrigue fantasy has its appeal –– will the exiled queen's decoy manage to save the day while trapped in the enemy's castle? For added interest, imagine such a novel that draws on the traditions of Bolivia rather than France or mainland China. Imagine that there is magic and amazing food. And did we forget to mention a masked man who might be, like Zorro, a hero? No to mention, as I am doing so, love in the midst of everything.
Not a surprising entrant into the genre, but one with charm and unusual insight into a divided society.
