wheatvulture 's review for:
Coin Locker Babies
by Ryū Murakami
i don't know whether to rate this book as 1/5 stars or 5/5. i'll go with the latter.
this book is just. absolutely repulsive. it's disgusting. it made me retch.
it follows the lives of two disillusioned boys, both tied together by the fact that their mothers abandoned them in coin lockers.
a lot of japanese literature (or the ones that i've read, anyway) seem to favour prose that's succinct and straightforward, but coin locker babies has a dreamlike quality what with its stream of consciousness narrative which perfectly portrays the characters' descent into madness imo.
typically murakami focuses on body horror but in this book he goes for both body and like. mental shit man. argh. i need to be baptised after reading this
