Ancestor Approved: Intertribal Stories for Kids by Cynthia Leitich Smith
5.0
This collection of short stories center around various Native families from Nations around the country. Although each of these stories is written by a different author and focuses on different characters from different places, they all are connected by a Powwow in Ann Arbor Michigan.
I loved these stories. The different stories all have themes all children can relate to (belonging, growing up, family, self-confidence, etc) while also sharing aspects of Native culture.
I’ve been working on creating a more diverse classroom library and let’s just say I knew immediately I needed to share this one with my students, which is why I already have a physical copy for my classroom
