Red Rising by Pierce Brown

*3.5/5*
Darrow bothered me quite a bit in this book. He seemed very cocky and never seemed to do anything wrong. His inner dialogue was extremely annoying and very repetitive. The Hunger Games style competition just didn’t do it for me. They spent more time fighting with their own house rather than trying to conquer the other houses as intended (took forever for that to finally happen)
I also had a very very hard time connecting with any characters in this book.
The biggest surprise in my opinion in this book was finding out about “Mustang” and “The Jackal.”
When I heard this took place in space I was thinking something a little more futuristic, definitely not the case.
The proctors sucked and were some of my most hated characters.
I’m 50/50 on moving onto the next book.
