Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed by Lori Gottlieb

emotional funny hopeful informative inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

What a wonderful book! I absolutely loved it.

So many things to say about it, here are a few in no specific order:
  • very well written
  • A book that had me laughing out loud and sobbing, all the feelings in between included
  • I loved how she managed to recount the conversations in a natural, lively yet well written way
  • She did a great job on the pacing & story arc when telling her patients‘ stories (and I was wondering whether this was deliberate as well in regards to how the therapy process unfolds over time)
  • She also explained a lot of theoretical concepts in an accessible way, making the book very informative

On a personal level, I found a lot that resonated with me. I stopped often, took time to think about what she wrote and took notes. It‘s a book that will stay with me for a while.

And I think, it‘s a book that you can read again at different stages of your life and get something different out of it each time.
