The Way Back by Carter Quinn
3.0

This was a read that was so full of feelings. A lot of them rather raw.

I loved Jason. He was so sweet and understanding.
It was a bit harder to like Riley. Even Eric was easier to like. I couldn’t help wondering what Riley had or did that made these two men go all ga-ga over him. I couldn’t se it. I wish I could have had Jason’s and Eric’s POV as well. Both to understand what was so special about Riley and it was hard to read his self centered recollection of what had happened six years earlier.

I think the single POV told in first person was what almost spoiled an otherwise great book. To me Riley came across as self centered and egotistical. To me it seemed he had no regard to how his actions affected others and how he hurt other people. And then he turned around and wondered why others were upset when he was the one hurt. (At least it was how it looked to me.)

I did enjoy the book, but my perception of the MC dragged it down a bit.
