Closed the book with a sigh. It's been years since I first read it, and I remember liking it just fine, but it didn't really leave a lasting effect on me, just that I was glad I finished it. But reading it now (and especially with a buddy who's the biggest fan) opened my eyes so wide, it's like I'm reading it for the first time. And I'm liking it a lot better this time. Much, much better.
Oscar put his whole soul into this book. There were so many great quotes, carefully crafted plots and symbolism and layers and parallels that it blew me away completely. Don't even get me started on all the floral meanings in here. There was so much to unpack, I do believe it will take a long time to properly dissect all there is to know in this novel.
But all I can say is, this was a good book. A really, good book and my tired eyes are too heavy to make it cooperate with my dried brain to write a better review. Dorian and the characters in here will leave a mark on me, much like how his sins were displayed on his portrait.
