FRACK! I hate when books make me cry! 😅 I’ve read many memoirs. Some just hit harder than others. I knew when I started this was gonna happen. Realizing that this story takes place around the same time I was also discovering who I was and these struggles happened in my lifetime hurt my heart so much. Wang wrote her story from her childhood eyes and it’s so raw and vulnerable. I was so angry with her parents while completely understanding her love an devotion to them. The trauma experienced makes the ending so cathartic through her eyes…and that’s when the tears hit me hard. It had to feel so good to put this story on paper, so thank you for sharing with the world.
