Scorched
by Wajdi Mouawad
Scorched (or "incendies" in French) is almost 100 pages book, written by Wajdi Mouawad and produced as Play in the first place. Then transferred to brilliant touching movie.
I bought the book from a used books store when i saw his attractive cover and the Arabic name of the author. After making some progress in the reading, I realized that is it the same story of an amazing movie I have watched 3 years ago..
the story talks about twins, digging in the past, trying to find their real origins after the death of their mother, who remained in murky silent for more than 15 years. Despite the fact, that she was a myth known as "the woman who sings" back in the days of war.
When I finished the book. I slipped into incompatible feelings. the paradox was; A strong desire for isolation possessed me. I need to keep my feelings as pristine as possible. But, at the same time, a huge burden fell above my shoulders. Beauty made to share. I have to tell everyone about this masterpiece.
That is the level of art i am expecting from our generation too, after surveying the war..
